Details
This well cared for Catalina 42 MKII is rigged for coastal and offshore cruising in comfort and safety and will suit those looking for a liveaboard cruising yacht that has plenty of volume and storage but still retains the feel of a more traditional build and layout. She has a full under cover cockpit area at both the helm and seating areas of the cockpit. The companionway is protected by the dodger and infill between the dodger and bimini. There is so much to like about this yacht, including but not limited to the bow thruster, watermaker, and in-date rigging. This has been one of Catalina's best selling models globally and once you step aboard, you can understand why.
Based here in Scarborough, Qld, having returned from a trip north. Sellers plans have taken a recent change and they are now offering new owners the opportunity to capitalise on these changes.
Antifouled February 2024, engine serviced and ready to go again. Don't miss out.

Accommodation
Stepping through the cockpit down the companionway you immediately notice the care that has been taken to maintain this yacht. All internal coach work is in good condition throughout as the photos attest to. To port and starboard of the companionway you find the twin double guest cabins. Opening ports, storage lockers and shelving in here along with fans and reading lighting. There is a low upholstered seating arrangement that will be handy when dressing or just finding a quite spot behind a door if needed, without being on the berth. The starboard cabin had been converted to a storage cabin with removable shelving by current owners to allow easy access to all the stores required for extended remote cruising. The spinnaker was stored under shelving. This has now been replaced back to original form to mirror the port double. Shelving is available if required. Forward and to starboard you have the dedicated guest/crew ensuite with shower/vanity/head setup. Light and airy in here and all is in very good condition. Opposite here you find the nav station where everything is at hand as it should be on a well set up cruising yacht. Forward again and the main feature of the vessel apart from her sailing abilities stands out. The large teak saloon table is surrounded on four sides by comfy seating and will accommodate many guests that we are sure that will want to come along for the sail. The seating on centerline is hinged to give access down to some of the keel bolts and also has storage under. All upholstery throughout is light in colour and presents in very good condition much like the remainder of the yachts fixtures. Lockers below and behind the saloon seating provide plenty of storage space for books and the like. To starboard is the well design galley with refrigeration located to the rear of the bench space. Front and top opening fridge/freezer allows for easy access to cold stores. The microwave is located above the refrigeration on built-in shelving. Next along the bench you have the gas cooktop and oven. This has a drop down (behind stove) lid that extends the bench space while cooktop is not in use. Shelving runs along behind the benchtop through to the stainless steel twin bowl sinks. The sinks have a timber infill for one sink that also doubles for a food preparation area. Eight drawers and locker below sinks with storage lockers behind and above. Heading forward into the owners private stateroom, the large double berth is on centerline. Four large drawers below berth and hanging locker to starboard. Semi walkaround gives good access to both sides of the berth. Twin opening deck hatches and opening portlights both port and starboard allows more than enough natural lighting and ventilation throughout this cabin. Access to the owners ensuite is on the port side of centerline and this cabin also has dedicated shower/head/vanity, storage and large mirrors.

Remarks
Great opportunity to capitalise on this yachts position and time of year and prepare for the 2025 cruising season up the East coast or further afield. The Catalina 42 MK II has earned an international reputation as the leader in her class. Design, cruising performance, and comfort, all make the Catalina 42 the first choice of sailors worldwide. The hull of the 42 MK II is a high volume, and easily driven yacht with a fine entry, firm mid ships section, and smooth run aft terminating in a modified reverse transom with an uncommonly spacious and functional boarding platform. Large cockpit and the spacious interior layout make her an ideal platform for couples cruising or having guests coming along for the passages. She presents in great condition, both topsides and below decks. Many spares and much cruising kit are included with the sale of this yacht.
Highly recommended viewing.
