SV Macushla is a high end blue water cruiser designed by Gozzard of Canada naval architects and build as haul number 33 by Bayfield Yachts of Ontario. Macushla is Irish Garlic and translates as " my heart beat" Her design is based on the traditional clipper lines being both timeless and beautiful. She is very photogenic and frequently photographed. In 2018-19 she received an extensive refit in preparation for crossing the Pacific in 2020-2022. In 2023 she received an upgraded for Australian safety, gas, electrical compliance and made ready for an extensive Australian cruising program. Unfortunately, health issues have intervened and she is now reluctantly available to be passed onto new owners.

Engine
Powered by the Westerbeke W52. The engine is 4 cylinder 52HP based on a 200 series Perkins engine and marinized by Westerbeke of USA. It was used in production for 15 years through to 1998 and is found as original equipment in many yachts. Parts are still readily available through Westerbeke Pacific on the Gold Coast. The engine has recently been fully service. Compression is excellent. She cruises at 6.5 knots on 1900 rpm for 3.5 lph. Full speed is 7.5 knots at 2300 rpm. She has full instrumentation with both gauges and independent alarms.

Accommodation
Entering down the companionway the twin aft cabins are port and starboard. These can be open to the saloon via their sliding doors and drop down privacy panels. Storage lockers in both cabins. Forward you have the portside facing nav table and station with all electronics and nav gear at hand. Between the nav station and galley on port side is the large top loading fridge freezer unit. Forward again is the gas oven and cooktop. Opposite here you can find the large fold up dining table surrounded by seating. Lockers behind and storage below seating. Where there would normally be a small Vee berth in the bow, designers have located the head/vanity/shower cabin. Sleeping for 6 in the 2 x double cabins and a drop down table double berth. Plenty of opening ports and the stunning butterfly hatch over saloon provide much natural lighting and free air flow even on the dullest of days. She has a warm traditional feel with generous use of teak throughout. Upholstery in the saloon is white and in good condition. This adds to her open feel below decks.

Remarks
Mascushla is a true blue water cruising yacht. Off the wind she easily achieves her displacement speed of 7.4 knots in a 12-15 knot breeze. Bayview yachts have a large following in North American with a strong association following - see Bayfield (and Gozzard) Owners Group on Facebook.
